Natural ways to exfoliate skin at home

:: This is a guest post authored by Swati Sharma ::

You’ve probably seen the hundreds of exfoliating beauty products stocked up on the beauty aisle at the local beauty store or online. “No,” You say! “My skin is sensitive and I need something that works without harming it!”

You want a DIY, something that you can make at home so that you know what exactly you are putting on your face. You want to use only those ingredients that your skin can tolerate. Of course, no one would want to damage the skin any more than it already is.

Did you know that even though DIYs can effectively exfoliate the skin, there are some ingredients that your skin may not be happy with? So even though you are using ingredients from your pantry, you need to be careful and do a patch test on the inner elbow, the second most sensitive-skin area, before you use anything on your face.

Bella Vita Organic Vitamin C facewash

Coffee beans- vanilla-almond-papaya, my face breaks into a wide smile whenever I see these ingredients mentioned in any skin-care product. Naturally, I was super pleased when I read the ingredient list of the facewash that was sent by Bella Vita Organic team to me. I love skincare products with natural ingredients in them and I prefer staying away from products which are majorly missing in natural ingredients. I have been using this face wash since a week now and I am ready to jot down my views so that you also figure out if this will work for you.

Mulmul Saree with Shibori dye

It seems like an eternity already that we are in our pyjamas now, doesn’t it? Though the lockdown has eased and everything is opening up again, it’s still uncertain when we can again air-dry our silks and actually dress up for an occasion. I am not complaining; I am deeply grateful for the daily blessings am receiving and earnestly praying for the ones who are not as lucky to be even considering talking about something as unnecessary as party clothing. But we all have own ways to deal with the gloom, to maintain our sanity and continue to work with cheer, isn’t it? So after four months of not caring to dress up at all, I took out some time for myself yesterday and donned a saree after ages just to click some happy pictures.

Review of Deyga Hair Serum Liquid Gold
Review of Deyga Hair Serum Liquid Gold

Deyga’s hair serum was another product I ordered in my Deyga haul. After having quite satisfactory results from their undereye cream (Full review HERE) and amazingly good results from their Rosehip Seed Oil (Full review HERE), I was expecting similar effects from the hair serum. I am not a person who believes that applying something on the scalp can stop hair fall and strongly belief in a good diet which provides food for the hair to grow. However, I love serums since they are applied on the hair shaft for a temporary relief from dryness. Staying in a place which is notorious for hard water, my original soft silky strands are a thing of past now and I was looking for a nourishing serum for the strands. Did this serum serve the purpose or was I in for a surprise? Read on to find out!

Review of Wow Skin Science Coconut Super Rich Facial Toner
Review of Wow Skin Science Coconut Super Rich Facial Toner

Although I love taking care of my skin, I have always been minimalist when it comes to the amount of products I put on my face. Even if there are short spells where I would do layering of skincare products one after another (Like Korean skincare regime), that ‘season’ does not last long; I get tired of it pretty soon. But what I truly have experienced in all these years is that a good toner can do wonders for your skin, even if your ‘cleanser’ is just a facewash and your ‘moisturizer’ is just another bottle of the counter. Especially if your skin is dry-normal like mine, a good hydrating toner does wonders to retain the glow on your face. I absolutely loved the thick and gel-like toners from Klairs and The Face Shop (Read their comparison review HERE), but they literally tumble my monthly budget because of their high prices. But toners in my budget are almost all alcohol-based which means they are clarifying but not ‘hydrating’, until I Wow Skin Science released their hydrating toner in pocket friendly price! Read on to see if it could impress me as much as the pricey toners did.

Review of Deyga under eye cream
Review of Deyga Under Eye cream

Alongwith using Deyga’s Rosehip seed oil daily (Review
HERE), I am also using their under eye cream everyday at bedtime. To be honest, under eye care is somethi g I conveniently forget most of the days. But now that I have crossed the “30” threshold, and am the mommy of a very active and less sleepy toddler, tired eyes is something I wake up to every morning. I do not yet have deep set crows-feet around my eyes, but the skin around my eyes does look dull I must admit. So naturally, I was pleased to receive this under eye cream from Deyga. Read on to see how it fared.

Review of Deyga Rosehip Seed oil

After my first impression post on Deyga products, I am back with detailed review on each of the products as promised. Today it is Deyga Rosehip Seed Oil since my dry skin loves any kind of facial oils. I also love reading about these oils (whenever my toddler lets me!) and rosehip seed oil seemed perfect for my skin. It is loaded with Vitamin A, C and E which helps in evening out skin tone and fade blemishes or scars; the fatty acids in it also promotes cell regeneration for a radiant and supple skin. What’s not to love about rosehip seed then? :D

Elle 18 has been the “first makeup” as teenagers or college-goers for many of us ‘90s babies mostly because their quality in that low price range won our hearts. But then, makeup bug bit us, we grew up and began emptying pockets on insanely priced makeup brands. Sounds familiar? I am guilty of that too. Elle 18 products somehow lay forgotten in our “advanced” makeup world. But the brand continued improving their products in that same amazing price range. Now, as a mommy of a hyper-active toddler, I barely get time for even a moisturizer. New makeup launches do not excite me anymore mostly because “where is the goddamn time?!”. But somehow I take time out for a dab of powder and some kajal and lipbalm. My Plum kajal (review HERE) got over recently and that’s how I ended up going back to my old favourite because I didn’t want to shell too much money. Read on to see Elle 18 kajal works as well as expensive counterparts.
