Even
though I have a face which would put a fully blown basketball to shame, I am
totally averse to “visible” contouring that we see on Instagram every day. I
dread the moment when I would chisel my face with contour products and then
someone would point out “Hey, there is some dirt on your face”. I do have a contour powder Sivanna (Review HERE)
which gives a natural look but it is not totally matte. So, most of the time, I
step out without any contouring. That was until I found this cute little bronzer
from Sugar Cosmetics. Read on to see if this product could change my mind about
contouring.

Directions
for use:
Lightly coat the end of your brush
with bronzer powder and tap off the excess. Apply it in the shape of a “3” from
the top to the bottom of your face on both sides, starting with your forehead.
Lightly sweep the brush along the outer sides of your upper forehead and along
your hairline. Next, make a fish face and apply the bronzer to your cheekbones.
Complete the “3” shape by sweeping your bronzer along your jawline.

These mini bronzers come in a flat cardboard box (with
the Sugar typical cool and quirky graphics) with magnetic flip-top. It is
further encased inside a matte black cardboard sleeve. The size is pretty handy
and can be easily carried around in purses.

My
Experience:
Sugar cosmetics also have two bigger versions of
Contour De Force face palettes: Subtle
Summit and Vivid Victory each of
which contains a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter. The shade 01 Subtle Summit
includes the bronzer 01 Taupe Topper in it. I was inclined on getting that
palette but since I have already found my favourite highlighter in Mary LouManizer (Review HERE) and blush
in NYX
Powder Blush Dusty Rose (Read Review HERE), I decided to skip the
palette and opted for only the bronzer because thankfully, Sugar cosmetics has
made these bronzers available separately as well.

The brand correctly describes the shade Taupe Topper as a cool toned brown with grey undertones. On
most light to medium complexions, a cool toned brown looks more natural than
deep warm chocolaty browns. My skintone is NC 37-40 in MAC shade chart and medium
toned with yellow undertones in laymen term. The shade Taupe Topper doesn’t
look stark on me and gives a very natural shadow effect in the areas I apply
it. Resultant effect is not a muddy brown or dirt brown which I absolutely fear
but a rather pretty and completely natural contour.

A downside to this shade is that it would work for
people with fair to medium and medium-tan complexions. This would not show up
as much on deeper complexions. On deeper complexions, the other shade Woody
Wonder would work better.
Sugar Contour
De Force Bronzer in Taupe Topper is quite a smooth powder with no chalkiness. It is very
well pigmented like all Sugar cosmetics products. It stayed on my normal-dry skin for more than 5-6 hours (With a
base of Nykaa Skingenius Foundation, ReviewHERE)
Also, there is no bothersome smell in the product.
Here is the product on my face. I have applied the product on the sides of my nose,
jawline and below my cheek bones.
An important point which should not be missed is that although
the contour powder looks almost next to nothing in the pictures on my NC 40
skintone, in real life it looks like a very natural contour. Also, a flat
packed contour brush would give a more stark effect than a fluffy contour
brush. Since I like a more natural effect, I use the WiseShe Contour brush
(read review HERE). If you like a stronger contour, I would suggest you should
use a flat topped contour brush instead.

Would
I recommend this to others?
Definitely, since this is an affordable option of contour
product in India with good quality. The shade builds up very well and thus can
be used by contouring first-timers as well.
