Hey everyone! This 19th, I was invited to
the launch party of something very unique: No, it was not some cosmetic
product, it was something we all have used at some point of our lives or are
still using it everyday: A lunch box! Yes, a lunch box. I was intrigued when I
received the invite mainly because of the nature of the email. It stated that
this was the launch of some “premium” lunchbox which was unlike anything we
have seen before. My first reaction was “premium lunch box”? What on earth is
that? Let’s face it, the very first image which comes to our mind on hearing
the word “Tiffin” are those rectangular steel boxes we carried to school or the
three tiered round steel dabbas which our dads carried to office. The mail also
stated that the website for this brand Vaya was in a pre-launch state and so I
was unable to get a glimpse of this mystery lunchbox. The event was held in ITC
Gardenia hotel in Bangalore and I found myself at the venue quite naturally :P
Product claims:
There’s no food like home food – the good old ghar ka khana. Snuggled in them
are the warmth of our moms, wives, didis, daadis, naanis, maamis or paaties.
Home food is hygienic, healthy, and made just the way we like it. Enjoy the
same good garma garm ghar ka khana that we relish at home wherever you go using
Vaya Tyffyn.

Truth be told I had never had a live experience of
such a grand opening of any product. The performers were mind-blowing and I thought
they looked like the ones at those award-functions we see on TV. There was a
live stand-up comedy performance by one of my favourite artists Karthik Kumar
whose youtube videos I follow regularly!

It was followed by a presentation and full
description of the Vaya Tyffyn by the young and dynamic entrepreneur and
Director of Vaya, Mr.Vashist Vasanthakumar. We saw how appealing these lunch boxes
look (There were three variants to choose from: Granite, Maple and Wool). He
explained how superior technology had been used to manufacture these lunchboxes
so that it can retain heat to almost 6 hours, have no spillage and ensure that
our home cooked food remains warm and palatable instead of being chewy, stone
cold and spilling out everywhere! He also said that Vaya addressed the problem
of carrying tiffins to office uniquely by giving a trendy looking bag with the
lunch box! How cool is that?? The best part is that this bag can be transformed
into a table mat with a cutlery pocket so that you can have your lunch in style
:D The mat is waterproof as well.

The launch was followed by sumptuous dinner and then
we received the “Garma Garam” surprise: The Vaya Tyffyn! So below is a quick
first impressions of the one I received (I received the “Wool” variant)

The lunch box is oval in shape with latches at two
sides like this. Inside that there are three oval shaped air tight boxes
stacked one above other and they have a copper finish on the outside making
them look beautiful! The one at the very base is slightly more in height than
the other two. But all three of them are supposed to hold 300 ml each. I quite
like the plastic lids which has a rubbery holder. This helps in safely pulling
up the lid without scalding our fingers with the hot food.

This is a description of the entire assortment of
the tiffin. The last box contained the side strap of the bag-mat. The bag looks
like this when folded and then opened. I could comfortably spread out all the
three boxes on the bag (now mat) and use the cutlery pocket as well!

So this covers the first impression of the box.
Whether the claims of 6 hour hot food is true or not, I shall find out in the
coming week when I will be testing the same. I will update this space regarding
that.

Finally, this is what I wore to the event: A blue
and black skirt dress which I accessorized with pearls only. My makeup was also
minimal with basic winged liner and two peachy Nude shades of Miss Claire
liquid lipsticks (read review here). MAC Face and body foundation and LA Pro concealers completed my base makeup.And yes! Inglot AMC Illuminator ;) That’s
