Hey my lovelies! I was supposed to post this review
two days earlier but weekend working at office prevented me from doing so! So
as I was blabbering on my Facebook page that I hate brown lipsticks but I
bought this chocolate brown lip liner, some of you must have wondered why.
Well, read on to find out what made me buy this very deep brown shade when I
actually abhor sporting brown lips!

My
take: The lip liner comes in a simple wooden sharpenable
pencil form with a clear plastic cap. All the shades in this range have the
body of the pencil in the colour of the individual shades. So this shade “Copper
Brown”, quite naturally has a warm brown body.

The shade is a misnomer
though! If you expected warm bronzy brown by the name “copper” in it, you will
be disappointed. This shade is a true warm, matte brown
(What a relief! Anything worse than brown lips for me is shimmery brown lips).

I have clicked the swatches in sunlight and shade as well to give you all an
idea. The quantity will last a long time because such wooden pencils have more
product than their retractable cousins.

The texture is a dream!
I had not expected it to be so creamy! It glides on beautifully and then settles to
a matte finish. However, while lining lips, it is always advisable to
have pre-moisturized lips. The pigmentation is mind blowing. The thinner line
in swatch is single time swatch and the broader line is multiple swatches. The
liner actually stayed on my lips till I removed it hours later but tends to
fade lightly after too oily meals. There is no overpowering fragrance to this
liner.

Now for most of you who
know me personally, you are aware of my phobia of deep brown lipsticks. In my
26 years of being on this planet, there were I guess only one or two instances
where I actually liked brown lip color on someone. Most of the other times
though, brown lips look like “dried leaves” to me L
And more so, on thin lips like mine, deep
shades instantly add two decades to my face :-/
But interestingly, I
had come across a post on Facebook where it was mentioned how brown lip liners
can be used to create a “pout” and that they are very helpful in creating the
right definition for fine lips. No, please don’t start thinking about the 90s
trend of dark lip liner and shimmery pale lipsticks.. Eeeyewww! That’s not what
we are talking about.

How I choose to use
this liner is this way!
1.
Apply a base of any nude color lip liner
(Read review of Lakme Beige Pink Here)
2.
Lightly line the lips with this brown
liner concentrating on corners and cupid bow (That is what created the pout for
thin lips!)
3.
Take a small flat lip brush and blend
the harsh brown line inwards. Use small strokes to “shade” your way in.
4.
Lastly, top with your favourite lipstick.

I
am loving this technique so much that I am using this liner along with a nude
shade every time I use a lip color. I had used it for nude lip and smokey eyes

Even
though my lips are thin as before but i love how there is a prominence to the outline
without being like those stark brown lips of the 90s ;)
