Focallure Loose Powder 02 Review, Swatches
Focallure Loose Powder 02 Review, Swatches |
FOCALLURE says, “Our micro powder can give your skin a soft, airbrushed quality. It is entirely translucent, allowing for a natural look. It keeps your skin clear of oil all day long”. I had picked this loose powder with the Focallure Skin Evolution foundation (Read Review HERE). Till date, I had always used normal compact powders for setting makeup and loose or translucent powders are new to me. Before this, I had once bought the Sivanna Colors loose powder which is a dupe of Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose powder (Review HERE) But somehow the inconvenient packaging never made me reach out for the powder while doing full face makeup. Let’s see how this one fares!
Price:
Rs.297 for 7gm. (Please note
that the powder originally retails for Rs,.400 in the official Indian Focallure
site. I had got it on sale for Rs.20. Currently it is priced at 297. Prices may
change at the discretion of the distributor)
Shades Available:
01
Ivory, 02 Natural, 03 Wheat

Pacakging:
It comes in a round plastic tub with matte black lid.
A sticker covers the disposing holes in the plastic separator inside the tub.
There is also a sponge puff applicator given. It is a bit cumbersome to lift up
the sticker each time, but it does prevent spillage.

My take:
Most people who have issue with a face makeup product
containing “Talc” would avoid this, but thankfully, my skin has never had any
issue with talcum powders (I grew up in a middle class Bengali household where ‘getting
ready’ in summers would mean a scrubbed clean face and body covered with copious
amounts of talcum powder) Jokes apart, if you have sensitive skin and your skin
does have a bout of breakouts with talc, please avoid this.

I had chosen the shade 02 Natural among the three
shades because I am average in everything. Okay, bad joke I know! 01 Ivory
seemed too white, 03 Wheat seemed too warm, that’s why. This shade looks a pale peach in the tub,
swatches almost white, and blends translucent without any ashy or cakey
residue.

When the Focallure Skin Evolution foundation blends
into a velvet matte finish on my dry to normal skin, a wash of this powder all
over my face does give it an airbrushed look without any extra “whitish” cast. It
sets the foundation beautifully and instantly makes it transfer and water
resistant. Quite impressive for such a budget powder!
The
powder is very finely milled and there is no strong fragrance. My T zone
tends to get oily in the sultry summers. So, I tried this powder over the
foundation in our non AC and humid June afternoons and found that the oiliness of
the T zone was at bay for about 4 hours. However, please note that I do not have
any excessive oil sebum secretion on my face. I am doubtful about this powder’s
ability to control oil on people who have an active sebum production on their
facial skin.

Also, I did not use any brush with this powder. I just
patted the product on the accompanying sponge and dabbed over my face lightly. This powder
also claims to be scalp oil absorbing powder, a matte lip powder, an eyeshadow
primer and a powder to apply with mascara for thicker lashes. Quite
interesting, don’t you think? I am yet to try those versions.

Here is a Before/After
picture. The first pic has Focallure Skin Evolution foundation in shade 04
Natural on my face and the second has the powder dabbed over it. Please note that since it is a setting powder, we cannot expect any coverage from it.

Next picture is what you may have seen on my Instagram handle. The Bare face, with foundation and with the powder.
FOTD |
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. If I
manage to finish up this foundation and powder, I might be going back for more.
