Packaging:
Housed inside a matte black carton, the Focallure
Fluid Foundation comes in a lightweight
plastic bottle with a black plastic pump. The pump is of extremely good
quality and you can control the amount of product to be pumped out each time.
The small size of the bottle makes it travel friendly as well. While writing
this review my clumsy self dropped the bottle cap from a high table to the
ground. Thankfully, it didn’t have even a scratch.

My Take:
Shade* My fear of picking “too light” foundation made
me buy 04 Natural shade. Unfortunately, 04
Natural shade is a deep peachy beige and would suit deep medium tan skin tones.
On my light to medium (NC 37 to NC 40), I guess 03 Warm Ivory would have suited
better. The shade 04 Natural perfectly blended into my hands which are
perennially tanned and are darker than my face and neck.

Texture* Neither very
thick nor as runny as MAC Face and Body
foundation. The foundation applies very easily with flat foundation brush
as well as sponge. I personally always finish my foundation application by
patting with fingertips. I did that with this too and the pigments did not
separate with the warmth of the fingertips. Overall, true to its claim, the
foundation is easily blendable.
Pigmentation* Absolutely
gorgeous amount of pigment! The foundation can be used sparingly to create
medium coverage and then built up for more coverage. On people without major
skin imperfections, this will serve as full coverage foundation.
Feel
and longevity* The brand claims the feel of this foundation as
‘velvet matte’, on my dry skin this feels like a comfortable matte, but I
cannot ignore the slight dewiness that it leaves. People with too oily skins
can skip this foundation. The face definitely does not look flat, but if not
properly blended this foundation can turn a tad cakey because of the amount of
pigment it has. A dusting of powder sets the foundation a lot better and gives
a matte look.
The foundation
on itself also transfers a lot. But surprisingly, once set with powder, it does
not transfer even a bit. I have splashed my face with water
after applying this foundation which was set with powder and it turned out to be
water resistant as well.
Coverage* The Focallure
Skin Evolution foundation pretty much covers all minor flaws on my face except
the deep set dark circles and prominent hyper pigmentation around my mouth. For
those I need to touch up additionally with a concealer. However, I will not let
that count as a con for this foundation since I need to do this routine with
any foundation I use.
I cannot comment on the oxidation property of this
foundation since this isn’t the correct shade for me and already looks a tad
orangey. I will update if I pick up shade 03 Warm Ivory sometime in future. However, the foundation doesn't look ashy at all and photographs well.
I must admit that after I splashed water on my face
post foundation and powder application, the foundation texture looked so much
better and natural on me! There was no major cakeyness as well. It also stayed
put on my face for a good five hours post which I removed it. So, I can deduce
that using a primer underneath would extend the longevity.
Here in the before/ after pic, you can see that the discoloration on the sides of forehead and around mouth is a bit disguised and the dark circles look a tad lighter.
Before/After |
In a nutshell, if
you can find your correct shade, this foundation is worth a try. Definitely
not the best of the best like high end ones, but it is not a disappointment
either. A tiny pump of this will work great for daily use as well (if you use
foundation daily).

So beautifully reviewed. Seems to be an amazing foundation on a budget. I was planning to buy this..but didn't because I wasn't sure of the shade.
