Wise She Cheek, Contour and Powder Brush Review
Wise She Cheek, Contour and Powder Brush Review |
In a previous
brush review post of mine, I had mentioned how delightfully good were the Oval
brushes launched by Anamika Sureka of WiseShe are! (Read full review of Wise She Oval Brushes HERE). WiseShe blog is
one of the top beauty blogs of this nation and Anamika is the lady behind this
name. I was eagerly waiting for her to launch more variants since I was blown
away with the luxuriant quality of her Oval brushes. Few days back she sent me
another recent launch of her brush line and this time it was a three-in-one
cheek, contour and powder brush! I was extremely happy since I was tired of
using my bulky Coastal Scents Kabuki brush since it could be only used for
powder application and not blush or contour. Read on to find out whether this
one too is a winner like its cousins J

Packaging: The brush comes nestled inside a matte black
rectangular carton with velvet cushioning inside. The box is quite sleek and
sturdy and it ensures that the bristles of the brush do not suffer any damage
while travelling.

The Brush:
The
approximately 7-inches long brush comes with a handle with rattan-like twined cover. Although personally I must
admit that I like brushes with metallic handles very much (just because they
look pretty on the dresser), this unique textured brush handle makes it a
“no-slip” one. So, in times of hurry, for ‘butter-fingers’ like me, unlike
metal handle ones, there is limited possibility of the brush falling off.

The brush head is fluffy bristled and tapering.
The bristles are not scanty and yet not too tightly packed. The warm-brown
colored synthetic bristles are luxuriantly
soft on skin, ‘swivel’ easily and are not scratchy at all. At the first
glance, the rounded head of the bristles appeared to be perfect for powder
application and the broad base with tapering end seemed perfect for blush and
contour application.

Let’s see how it
fared with various makeup pigments now:
1. With face powder/ compact
powder/loose powder:
-
I
am recently using Milani Even Touch Powder Foundation as my setting powder and
compact powder with the brushes available in my kitty. The powder is on the
expensive side in India and my kabuki brush (due to its huge size), picks up a
lot more product than needed and this sometimes makes application streaky
causing a “powdery” cast on face. With the Wise She Cheek, Contour and Powder
brush however, the rounded brush head is sized perfectly not to pick up extra
product and it also gives me an even application without any streak. However,
for more ‘coverage’, I need to go over with some more product again.
2.
With
Blush/contour powder:
-
The
short and long rounded bristles in the brush head picks up correct quantity of
powder/ pressed blush and also it blends the product beautifully into the
cheeks. With deeper hued blushes too, I feel this kind of bristles would ensure
a “non-clowney” application. Also, the tapered end makes it easy to create
lines with contour powder and then seamlessly blend it as well.

3.
With Cream
products:
-
I
was quite skeptical about using this brush with cream products since I always
believed that cream products blend better with denser and tighter packed
bristles. But since the product claimed to be sued both for powder and cream
products, I decided to try it out with my foundation. The first application
looked streaky, but gradually as I blended the application became more and more
smooth. However, my foundations are always light-medium coverage ones. With
heavy coverage foundations or dense cream products, I feel this brush can be
used as “flat foundation brush” for the initial application and then a denser
packed brush like WiseShe Oval brush(Read review HERE) can be used for the final blending J

As far as cleaning the brush goes, I do not
own any brush cleansing liquid or tool and use plain baby shampoo for the
purpose. I could clean this brush too
quite effectively with that and there was no shedding. Post drying (air drying)
I could see no roughness in the bristles and the initial softness was still
there.
I know I cannot
stop gushing about this brush but that I because this brush deserves it! An
absolute winner in my opinion and that too priced so reasonably when its
high-end cousins with similar quality actually burn our pockets and topple our
budget for a month -_-
While I sit and
wistfully wait for Anamika’s next release of brushes, you guys go get your
Cheek, Contour and Powder Brush from Amazon at the current discounted price now
