all-time favourite L’oreal Million Lashes Mascara was over (finished three
tubes) and these lines were enough for me to hit the “buy” button on Nykaa.
Read on to see if I loved this ultra raved mascara as much as I love the
Million Lashes one from L’oreal.

Packaging: I am absolutely smitten by the classy rose-gold packaging of the
Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. This product boasts of a “fanning brush”
which has “ten layers of bristles” to create ‘fan effect’ lashes. The brush end
indeed is unique with two kinds of bristle layers: shorter ones to create

My take: As I mentioned, my HG mascara has been L’oreal Million lashes for the
last two and a half years. I absolutely love the thin brush head and non-clumpy
formula of that mascara on my almost non-existent lashes. However, that costs a
whooping Rs.850/- and currently I am on a budget-crunch. So I settled on the
Lash Sensational variant of mascara from Maybelline which has more than 900
positive reviews on Nykaa!
When I swatched
it on my wrist, I saw that the pigmentation is indeed jet black as expected
from Maybelline mascaras.

However, there are certain points which bothered me
about this mascara:

The
fanned brush picks up way too much
product and then I have to swipe off excess on the tube rim which makes the
rim super messy from the first usage

Although
Maybelline mentions using one end of the brush to create volume and other to
create fanning length, once the brush is all goopy with product it is difficult
for me to switch sides without messing up my lower and upper eye contour area.

For
small and almost no-lash eyes like mine, even after wiping off excess product,
this brush proves to be “too generous” with the amount of product, leading to
clumped lashes. (Quite unlike the thin brush of L’oreal which actually coats
every little lash and separates each to create drama even with my sparse
lashes)
v
Too
much product picked by the brush can make sparse lashes feel heavy. I faced
this issue on my first usage. I actually felt there was something “heavy” on my
lashes. I could correct that to some extent with the subsequent usages by
picking up lesser product and then using an extra spoolie brush to separate the
lashes.
Once I could use
it correctly, I could see that the mascara did ‘lift up’ my lashes and the effect
lasted till I removed the mascara at the end of the day. The lengthening effect
is also seen. However, I didn’t get the desired “drama but natural” effect
which I so love and also get from Million Lashes one L

What I truly feel though is that this mascara will be
perfect for people with naturally long lashes more than people with sparse lashes. The former will have the desired effect as promised
by the brand.

Currently, I am
using this mascara with the old mascara wand from my L’oreal Million Lashes
mascara. The effect is quite better then. The
texture of the mascara is neither very thick nor very runny. Also, the
pigmentation is very good. These two points will make me use this mascara till
I buy the next mascara tube J
