You all know my love for good quality makeup tools. I truly believe that a low cost drugstore cosmetic pigment can be made to give a million bucks effect if used with the right kind of tools (Read our review of  Zoeva Brushes Dupe HERE). Even a super costly foundation can look streaky and patchy if not applied with the correct technique and brush/sponge. That being said, I had never tried the recent craze in beauty world in terms of makeup tools- the Oval brushes. Although, oval brushes seem to be everywhere on social media and shopping sites these days, I somehow couldn’t think how they would work better than my regular brushes or my PAC Beauty Blender sponge (Read review HERE). However, when Anamika Sureka, from WiseShe blog expressed her plan of a new venture where WiseShe is actually coming up with their own set of Oval Brushes and wanted honest reviews from bloggers before its formal release, I couldn’t be more excited :D Anamika was kind enough to send me three brushes from the set and here is my first impression and review of the same:

Product name: WiseShe Oval brushes
Price: Not yet disclosed. Will be updated once the brushes are available for sale
Available at: Same as above
Packaging: The three brushes I was sent were packed inside an ornate looking cardboard jewellery box. However, I believe packaging will be changed when these brushes are sold commercially-separately or as set.

My take: Of the three brushes I received, the first is a big sized one; the second is a medium sized one and the third a tiny baby-toothbrush sized. According to me, the first can be used for base products like foundations (liquid, cream or powder), the second one can be used for blush application (cream, liquid or powder) and the third can be used for blending contour lines around nose.

The first thing I noticed about these brushes was extremely soft and dense bristles. Although Anamika had mentioned that these were synthetic bristles, they did not look “nylon-y” at all. I was amazed at how baby-soft smooth they felt on skin, especially the bigger two brushes. The bristles of the tiny brush are comparatively stiffer which will be helpful in blending nose contour lines when you do not want the contour to spread over a large area.

The sizes of the brushes were of the size of my palms. Have a look!

One slight issue I faced while using the big foundation brush was that while applying a bit of pressure during blending, I felt the plastic neck handle of the brush wiggle a bit: I was concerned that it would snap into two. However, I soon realized that with those dense bristles, you do not need to apply pressure at all. Products get blended into skin just beautifully.
Below are three products I used for testing: liquid foundation, powder blush and powder contour. Notice how effectively the brushes have blended the products.

I also sensed no weird smell from the bristles and there was no shedding during usage as well. I am yet to wash the brushes. I shall be updating this space whether they shed or not during wash.

Overall, I am quite satisfied and happy with these brushes. In fact, I don’t think am returning to any other brush for my foundation after using this cushiony soft brush :D

Eagerly waiting for their formal launch soon. Great work Anamika! You may contact her for further information through her website HERE.
