Nykaa SKINgenius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation Review Vs MAC Face & Body Foundation
Nykaa SKINgenius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation Review |
While the beauty market is flooded with products for
oily or combination skinned people these days, you would find it really hard to
get a foundation for yourself in budget if
your skin is normal-dry. Mostly because, almost all foundations in the
Indian market these days settles to matte finish. My skin falls in the
normal-dry type and naturally, I had no option in the budget foundations. Also,
since I like my foundations to be sheer, buildable and natural-looking, I had
finally decided t get myself MAC Face and body foundation which is the holy
grail for dry skinned people like me (Read
review of shade C4 HERE and C3 HERE). But spending 2500/- INR for 50 ml of
product is as heartbreaking for me as it is for you L
Naturally, my excitement was on the high when Nykaa SKINgenius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation was released!
I ordered shade 03 Warm Sand. Read
on to find out how it fared and is it similar to MAC Face and Body foundation!
Nykaa
SKINgenius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation claims to be a sculpting and
hydrating foundation with weightless texture and luxurious longwear formula. It
also claims- Seamless melting into skin, color staying true and a
radiant-lit-from-within glow.
Price:
Rs. 575 for 30 ml
This foundation comes packed in a no-nonsense beige-hued plastic squeeze-tube with a
black screw-on cap. The tube is housed inside a pink carton box. The shade
name in printed on a sticker on the carton as well as the squeeze tube.

The other shades available in this range are 01 Pure Ivory, 02 Almond Beige, 03 Warm
Sand, 04 True Tan and 05 Golden Honey. I picked Warm Sand because it didn’t
seem too pale or too orangey and felt ok for my wheatish-fair skin (MAC Face
and Body C3 complexion/ Studiofix NC 40)

I must say I was pretty pleased when I swatched this
for the first time. The consistency was almost as runny as MAC Face and Body
foundation but it was loaded with pigment. I swiped it across my jawline and
Warm Sand blended seamlessly into my complexion. I was confused because even
MAC F&B in C3 blends beautifully into my skin and Nykaa Skingenius
foundation in Warm sand seemed much warmer in comparison. But both matched
effortlessly in my facial skin (What more could I want!)
Texture
wise,
both MAC F&B and Nykaa Skingenius Foundation are runny. But the former is definitely a tad runnier. There is a mild
fragrance in the Nykaa foundation which goes away after blending.

Below are swatches of both foundations side by side.
While MAC F&B in shade C3 is a warm
beige, Nykaa SKINgenius foundation is
warmer with an oh-so-slight tinge of peach in the beige.

When I blended both on the back of my hands, MAC one
blended in faster, while the Nykaa one took a little longer maybe because of
its slightly thicker texture. Neither of them settled in lines and both gave
beautiful dewy finish without any cakeyness! I kept them on for 6 hours and
during that time, I could not guess which side had which foundation on. I
sweated, neither of them transferred. There was no stretchy feeling from either
of the two foundations.

When I used both on my face, I noticed that neither of
them was able to cover the bad bout of red tiny pimples I am having these days
with a single layer. But they were almost covered when I layered up (although
not fully). Nykaa SKINgenius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation is almost as
buildable as the MAC Face and Body foundation although it definitely takes a
little more time than the latter to blend in completely. The effect was dewy, but definitely not shiny and a very comfortable finish! With a slight brush of
concealer like LA Pro HD concealer (Readreview HERE) and topping the foundation with a finishing powder (Only on
required areas) for evenings, I would love to use this foundation as a base for
both day and night wear.
Overall, I am SO glad that finally I have something in
budget to use as base which compares so well with MAC Face and Body. I believe,
every dry skinned beauties (with not a very problematic skin) should get this
bottle in their purse! Another plus point is that the shades True Tan and
Golden honey would cater to deeper skin tones as well. I wish they include even
more shades in future J
I would post a picture of my face wearing this foundation
once the bout of pimples fades away J Till then, tell
us if you have tried this foundation as well!
Am I repurchasing this? Are you kidding me? YES!!!

ReplyDeleteThis would suit you perfectly! 😀
DeleteThe one reason I stayed away from this is because it is for dry skinned people!! So glad that it works as well as the claims.
ReplyDeleteYou may as well try it as a daily wear one Krupa. The finish is really not oily, but just hydrating. Try in winters 😀
DeleteI was so wanting a real review of it as nykaa reviews are generally paid and biased..glad I stopped by to read it post..I AM GETTING THIS!
