When you happen
to wait for someone’s wedding pictures even more than the bride herself, you
know that the bride is special to you- And even more because, alongwith being a
truly wonderful human being, this person exudes warmth and an ethereal beauty
that reminds us of Maa Durga. So, what can be the better time to write a bit
about her wedding style when we Bengalis are in a post-pujo depression? :D
Click to read on:
I had met Riya
Didi during my college days in Shantiniketan. The very first thought which had
come to my mind when I first saw her was “What a stunning bride she would make
one day!” I might sound like a guy here, but truly, there was something about
her big almond eyes and enchanting smile, coupled with her heart-warming
personality that won us all.
She got married
earlier this year, and she was kind enough to share her wedding and reception
pictures with us. Without further ado, let us know more about what she chose
for her special day.
Wedding:
Attire: She chose a fiery red silk Benaroshi saree which has minimal motifs on
the entire body and an intricate border (Read about Banarasi Kimkhwab saree HERE). She kept the blouse simple and donned
a translucent red veil with golden border matching her saree. She bought the
saree from B.K.Fashion Kolkata

Jewellery: One thing which I personally love about any bride is
when she incorporates inherited family jewellery in her wedding day look. Riya
Di wore the same jewellery which her other had worn on her wedding! She just
had them polished. Oh! How we love the yesteryear necklace, earrings and
bangles (Read about kinds of Bengali bridal jewellery HERE). Her Maangtika and big round nosering (another
personal favorite!) were costume jewellery bought from Gariahaat, Kolkata

Makeup and Hair: Her stunning red streaked hair was pulled back in a
traditional bun with red roses and her makeup was bold with honey golden skin, intense
winged eyeliner, golden and plum shadow and lots of kohl. The look was
completed with matte red lips. We actually could picture Maa Durga when we saw
her pics :D That stunning makeup was done by Subhadeep
Bhattacharya of Nandonik Beauty Parlour, Bolpur. We especially love the
intricate chandan-work J

Reception:
Attire:
She chose a warm pink benaroshi saree with golden zari (Like I did! Read HERE) for her Bou-bhaat or reception. The
pink complemented her complexion really well. This saree was bought from Indian
Silk House Agencies Rashbehari Aveneue, Kolkata.

Jewellery:
Same jewellery was chosen along with some extra ones which were bought from
Bolpur. This is one thing about pure gold jewellery, you can pair them with any
saree which has golden zari, no issue of matching ;) Infact, I did the same in
my reception J

Makeup
and hair: We were awestruck with the hairdo and the makeup
in her reception! The traditional bun was quirked up with a messy crown and
this changed her look completely from the wedding! The show stopper in her
reception looks were her eyes! Just check this scintillating fish-eye winged
liner on her. We have never seen something so experimental look so fabulous on
a bride :D Eyeshadow was kept minimal to focus on the liner. Her look was
completed with matte pink lips. This magic was also created by Subhadeep Bhattacharya.

What
we loved in both her looks:
1.
Her
sarees were perfectly bridal as well as they are completely wearable later due
to the simple designs. She had kept both budget and practicality in mind J
2.
Incorporating
mother’s wedding jewellery instead of melting all those and getting new trendy
designs is something which always warms my heart J
3.
That
BIG golden nosering! She couldn’t have chosen a better one :D (Read more aboutBengali bridal nosering designs HERE)
4.
Her
intense eye makeup. Makeup artist Subhadeep did full justice to her already
beautiful almond eyes J
We wish a lifetime of happiness to both of you Riya
Di and Bivash Da
