Review of Maybelline Babylips Bloom Color Changing Lip Balms
Review of Maybelline Babylips Bloom Color Changing Lip Balms |
Hey ladies! This review will be on Maybelline’s new
launch- “Color changing” lip balms. For me these looked like old wine in new
bottle because they had a similar concept with the “Lip Smooth Color Bloom”
balms. Those were around even before Babylips (Read review HERE) shook the lip balm world ;) They
were white chapsticks which turned pink or peach on lips. When I was sent these
“new” balms I thought they would be like their predecessors. Was I right? Read
on to find out:

My
Take: Ever since Babylips range had hit the Indian market,
they had become my holy grail lip balms for the day (I still use Boroline at
bedtime!) That was mostly because in that affordable price range of 125-150/-INR
they provided full moisturising, beautiful tint and long staying power which I
did not get from any other brands in that price range. Also, the quantity was
4gms which was enough to last more than a month with daily usage.

So when I received these, the first thing which
struck me was why would I pay 185/- for 1.7 gms? :-/ Anyway, when twisted, the
balm bullets looked like this: The Peach Bloom was creamish like so and the
Pink Bloom looked candid white like so.

What they claimed was once applied on
lips, a “sheer” lip color would start appearing after some time. While I
swatched them on my wrists, the first thing which stuck me was they were
lighter in texture than the normal babylips (For the records, I choose Babylips
always only because of that thick texture which remains on lips for long). Now
let’s see swatches:

Below are the lip swatches if you may call them so! :D There is a very sheer wash of color and it goes away with the first bite of snacks L

Rating: 3/5 (Points for serving as a good chapstick and having SPF 16)
Recommendation:
These color changing lip balms will serve the purpose only on pale skinned
people and will not show up on pigmented lips. Maybelline Babylips color
crush range is better and is in more quantity at lesser price. These will be fun
gifts for nieces who have just stepped into teenage and are starting their
makeup journey or for the days you are in no mood for much color on your lips except some good moisturizing J

this honest review helped! Stay tuned for more such posts.
