experiencing the gone-by years is definitely wearing that old classic saree of
your mother. Your mother will have so many fond memories related to that piece
of cloth and her eyes would light up seeing you wear the same after all these
years. I experienced this mother-daughter moment when I wore my mother’s black
pure katan silk Banarasi saree with silver zari today: A very intricately
woven, yet contemporary Banarasi silk saree which my grandmother gifted her on
my birth. Yes,that makes this saree 28 years now J
My mother,
unlike me, had a very petite figure back then. So naturally, the “matching”
blouse didn’t fit. Instead, this rich purple raw silk blouse got the honor of
pairing with this timeless saree :P

You all know my
love for Banarasee sarees by now. I was equally happy flaunting my mom’s Wedding reception sea-green katan silkBanarasi saree in this post HERE (another pick by my granny for her
daughter-in-law). This lightweight black banarasee saree also was breezy to
wear (Unlike satin banarasi we find these days). The silver zari are lines of
flowers, leaves and paisleys.
