Hey ladies! In our previous post I mentioned about a
new launch, remember? Well time to reveal it! It is the brand new brow pomade
by Maybelline. As far as I know, brow pomade in an affordable price tag was not
present in the Indian market. We had eye brow pencils, eyebrow powders etc but
not pomade. The first time I heard about brow pomade was from Instagram celebs
and cosmetic retailers on Instagram- The Anastasia Brow pomade. That little pot
sells for no less than Rs.1800 in Indian currency. Now, although I love groomed
brows, I d not favour the thickly drawn “stencilled” brows since I feel they
might look good in pictures but in actual life I am most definitely going to
find people pointing out my “makeup eyebrows” to me and asking why did I paint
them? Lol! So it has always been a brown eyeshadow and a thin angular brush as
my “eyebrow soldiers” (I use Inglot eyeshadow for the same. (Read HERE). But when I saw such
affordable brow pomade and that too in a crayon form I couldn’t resist myself.

My
take:
As I mentioned earlier, I like lightly groomed brows as opposed to heavily done
brows. This is mainly because I have really thin and sparse brows and even a
slight “extra” product on them makes them look like right out of the circus.
The big fat crayon tip did look intimidating at first but I went ahead for a
try. I couldn’t apply it properly because my brows are thinner than the tip of
the crayon. What a bummer!
Next, I tried picking a bit of product with my
trusted flat angular brush which I use daily for filling my brows and then
proceeded use it as I would with a brow powder. To my delight, I could fill my
bows with ease and the lines were much better than what I manage with an
eyeshadow. The extremely sparse areas needed to be covered directly by the
crayon and then smoothed with the brush. However, since the pomade content is
more, the pigment will “slip away” if you use the brush too harshly. When handing
the brush lightly, this product can give you a beautiful finishing touch at the
outer edges which eyeshadows might fail at.

The shade Soft Brown is a mix of cool toned brown and taupe. This makes it extremely wearable.

However, since pomade is essentially what we laymen
call “Vaseline”, there is a certain slip to the product. If your skin is too
oily you might want to stick with eyeshadows or brow powders. Also, I still
reach out for my eyeshadow as my quick fix, but this is definitely going to be
my festivals or photoshoots’ eyebrow fix. It manages to stay for 5 hours on me
post which I see fading. This duration may vary from person to person.

I have got it too, yet to open the seal pack. Pomade word attracts me, but the prices of other variants dont. thank God for Maybelline.
