Review/Swatches of L’oreal Paris Les Ombres Eyeshadow Quad: P1 Precious Purple |
When it comes to eyeshadows, I am not experimental
at all. I stick to my bronzes, golds and browns and occasionally maybe a jade green for the lower lashline. However, when the L’oreal team sent over the
new Festive Fever collection to me, the eyeshadow quad I received was in the
shade Precious Purple. The first look at the coordinated shades inside the
palette made me think “How pretty”, but the very next moment I was back to my
comfort zone thinking I just cannot wear these shades, they would clash
horribly against my warm skin tone. Did my view change on actually wearing
them? Read on to find out!

Packaging:
The quad is housed in a square compact kit with a reflective golden lid which
clicks shut properly. Inside you would find four colour coordinated eyeshadows
alongwith a sponge applicator. The applicator is dual ended-one side rounded
and the other pointed. Quite interesting as you can use the pointed side for
applying eyeshadow on your lower lashline.

My
Take: The four shades in this quad are: A true pearly lilac, a bluish silvery
grey, a pink highlighting shade which comes out as light baby pink with blue
shimmers and the last one is a deep eggplant with slight blue shimmers. To
be honest, when I first swatched these shades, the pigmentation did not impress
me except the deepest shade. Surprisingly though, as soon as I applied them on
my eyelid, they showed up beautifully even without primer. The texture is very
soft and the shimmers are extremely finely milled. The shades get blended with
each other quite easily and stayed on my lids for almost 5-6 hours post which I
removed them. With a primer they might stay for even longer.

I still feel that cool toned beauties will find this
quad more usable than the warm toned ones like me mainly because the lilac and
the baby pink leans on the cooler side and will wash out deeper complexions.
However, every complexion can experiment with the deep grey and the eggplant
shade! Have a look at the swatches. These are single swipes.

In the look below I have applied the deep grey all
over the lid and dotted some lilac in the centre. Swirling my brush over the
pink highlighting shade I highlighted my browbone and inner corner of my eyes.
I also applied some on the lower waterline (skipped kajal). I finished with a thick
line of the eggplant shade on my lower lashline. I must say I am fond of this
look after pairing it with MAC Kinda Sexy lipstick (Read review HERE). Do you like it? Let me know in comments!
