Review & Swatches of 7 Heaven’s Photogenic Chubby Lip Crayon |
Hey beauties! I am bubbling with excitement as I am
writing this post because that’s how I feel when I manage to come across
products which are dirt cheap but good. So we all know about the famous Chubby
sticks from Clinique and their more “affordable” matte versions in Revlon Matte
balms, don’t we? Now don’t ask me why but I do not own a single of those.
Clinique ones never appealed to me because of their sheer texture and the
shades of the Revlon range didn’t seem like a “must have” to me. But the other
day, I was “window shopping” in Instagram makeup stores (I have about a hundred
of them in my list!) and I came across this store called “bgirly_cosmetics” which was selling these chubby sticks. The
packaging seemed an exact mix of Clinique and Revlon Matte balms and I was
intrigued. The lady behind this page told me it was 7 Heaven’s Photogenic
Chubby Lip Crayons. What made me buy 7 of them? Read on and find out! :)

Packaging:
From
a distance, it looks completely like the Clinique chubby sticks: A thick pencil
in the colour of the lip shade it houses and a silver retractable end. The cap
of the Clinique ones is silver as well, but these are of the same colour as the
body of the crayon, just like the Revlon Matte balms. The tip of the lip colour
is pointed and same like its expensive cousins. However, you have to be really
careful while replacing the cap because the entire crayon does not retract
inside the body. So a hasty cap replacing will result in dents. Also, another
thing I noticed was that the crayons are prone to breaking at the base because
it is soft.

My take: These chubby sticks from 7
Heaven’s are your daily “swipe and go” lipstick is what I feel. The texture is
soft and they glide like butter. Unlike Clinique these are INSANELY pigmented!
Just a light swipe and you get full blown colour. They are very creamy and
emollient and apply with ease. The sheen can be blotted off if you wish to with
a tissue without compromising on the colour. Inspite of being creamy they do
not bleed outside the lip line eve on my every thin lips and I did not apply
lipliner or lip balm before using these chubby sticks. They are hydrating as
well but come with a sweet bubblegum scent which although fades in some time
might be bothersome to sensitive noses.

Staying power: I was pleasantly
surprised at the staying power of these lip colours. The colour stayed intact
for two hours before I had a heavy breakfast (read poori, sabzi and two cups of
tea). I thought there was no way this color could survive that oil and frequent
sips of tea. But when I saw the mirror, only the sheen was gone the colour was
still there and it was much more than just a tint. This colour stayed on
completely till lunch during which lips did not feel dry or flaky. After lunch
(I will not shock you with the menu), let’s be honest, there was no way it
could survive another meal. But yes, a beautiful tint still remained after
lunch. And all this without any touchup in between I was so impressed!

Bad points: The only “bad” thing
about these balms is that they tend to break at the base. But considering all
the good points at that price, I would depot and store them in palettes if I
have to, but still would use them :)
Ok, now enough of banter! Let’s get to the shades I
got for myself. Also, did I tell you that the creamy nature of these balms
actually allow you to create various custom shades by mixing two or three
shades? ;) I do that!

1.
Bountiful
Blush (506) : This shade a perfect
daily wear dusty pink which can be used for workplaces quite easily.

2.
Rich
Mocha (501) : This
one is a true brown. The first time I swatched this, I was like “Oh No! I am
never going to apply this!” But This shade can actually be a saviour to turn
all those bright shades into MLBB or something you can wear everyday. I put on
my bright lipsticks and then layer this on top. Then I purse my lips together
and mix both shades and voila! A dusty wearable red or pink :D You can also
blot and make it a tad lighter. I am always going to keep this shade with me.
Clinique has a similar shade called “Richer Raisin” but funnily this shade is “richer”
than the Clinique one ;)

3.
Royalty
(502) : This one is a brown with red and
purple undertones. Yes, as confusing as it sounds, that’s the closest I can
think of. This is a really unique shade and is unlike anything I own in my kit.
Ladies with fuller lips will rock this shade. On my thin lips I like to tone
down the crazy pigmentation but blotting it a bit :) Anyhow, I am really in love with this color.

4.
Deep
Magenta (521) : This is a true hot
pink with fuchsia undertones. By magenta I had expected a deeper pink but this
comes out as hot pink on lips.

5.
Naughty
Red (524) : This is a warm tomato
red verging towards orange. It is an “in-your-face” colour and I am not fond of
it since it doesn’t really suit me. One way to make this colour work would be
to wear it with a white shirt, blue jeans and cool shades and no accessory. On
anything else, this colour will be too intimidating. Dark skinned beauties stay
away from this.

6.
Rouge
Glamour(512) : This shade is a wearable
deep red which I love! The undertone is neutral: neither too warm, nor too
cool. It is just a perfect red. Please ignore the faded patch in the center of
the lip swatch. The day was cloudy and my mobile phone camera was behaving
weirdly :( “Two Ton Tomato” of Clinique is a sheer version of this shade. By the way
girls, this range also has a shade “two ton tomato”.

7.
Grape(514) : This
is a gorgeous deep purple but with warm tones. All purple lipstick lovers will
love this shade because it is much more wearable than the other purple or
lavender shades available across brands. Clinique Chubby sticks “Voluptuous
violet” and Clinique chubby sticks Intense shade “Grandest Grape” is close to
this shade although “Grape” is 100 times more pigmented than these costlier
cousins ;)

Here is a swatch of all
the shades together. This was the first time I had swatched them after opening
the packet and these are “light handed” single swatches. This would give you an
idea of the pigmentation as well.
