Hey
ladies!! I am probably the last person in the beauty blogosphere to be “re-viewing”
two ultra popular lipsticks from L’oreal from their earlier launches. While the
world is picking up every new launch, I find myself going back to classics-much
like in case of books (Bookworms will agree): No matter how many new “bestsellers”
come across, some books have rightly earned the title of “classics” because
they never get old. And before you start asking yourself why on earth a beauty
blogger is talking about books and classics and decide go away from my blog
page, hold ladies!! You will understand the comparison now. There have been
many new launches since L’oreal launched their “Moist Matte” range in India somewhere early last year, but these
lippies are here for good! And today’s review is going to be on two of the much
raved shades from the L’oreal Moist Matte range.
Product name: L’oreal Paris Moist Matte Lipsticks in
shades Lincoln Rose and Glamor
Fuchsia
Price: Originally priced at Rs.899
when released, these are now Rs.925. But mostly they are available for Rs.650-750
after discounts in many sites like Nykaa, Amazon, Aplava etc.

Packaging: Metallic rose-gold shiny
body with a coloured square at the click-lock’s place which depicts the colour
of the lipstick inside. (I go weak in my knees whenever I see anything packaged
in rose-gold colour. So you can well imagine how these lipsticks make me feel
:P). The lipstick bullet is shaped uniquely like a flower petal at the top
which allows ease of application.

My take: Even though I am biased
towards MAC when it comes to good
quality matte lipsticks, L’oreal has been producing some really good
quality lipsticks over the years and their Moist Matte range was an instant hit
due to its “matte but comfortable wear” effect. Especially after Aishwarya
rocked the shade “Lincoln Rose” with her “Golden Goddess” look at Cannes 2015
Film Festival (Check Youcannes Collection by L’oreal here), everyone went gaga over the
shade! Lincoln Rose and Glamor Fuchsia were the two most bold and beautiful
shades from the range and that explains their presence in my kitty ;)
Coming to the shades, Lincoln Rose (which my hubby calls Abraham Lincoln lipstick) is a B-E-A-U-T-F-U-L bright and bold red with neutral undertones. It doesn’t lean towards orange and nor is a blue based cherry red either. It is a true red and seems a tad warm when out in sun. It would suit every complexion.

Glamor Fuchsia is a stunning
blue-based fuchsia which instantly brightens the face just like Lincoln Rose
does.
Most of my fuchsia lipsticks lean towards hot pinks and this is leaning towards
purple. I am glad this shade is unlike anything I own in my kit. Fair to medium
and deep complexions will rock this shade but much deeper skin tones might feel
a bit conscious to carry off this colour. But again that depends from person to
person J
Texture wise these lipsticks
are a blessing! Smooth buttery
application and almost creamy when just applied, they take a full 10 minutes to
become completely matte. The “matte” after 10 minutes is still a very comfortable
one and does not add to dryness of lips. (I will still urge a well exfoliated
and pre-moisturized lip before application of any matte lip colour)

One thing these lippies are “infamous” for is that they are too soft and they break at the base easily. Almost everyone I know who have tried these lipsticks complain of these breaking at the base. Well, staying at Bangalore (which is currently having the most awesome weather possible) has been a boon for me because these lipsticks are intact till now and there is no humidity to melt them ;) Fingers crossed for warmer days though!

Here are the lip swatches. I have not used any tinted balm underneath or any lip liner so that you can have idea about the correct shade. This is how it looks on my complexion. (I am MAC NC 37-40 in Studiofix and C3 in MAC Face and Body Foundation) The sheen you see at the center of the lips is because the pics are clicked just after application.

lipsticks wholeheartedly for bringing out the diva in you J
