Wedding of this Bengali Bride: Makeup, Attire and Jewellery
Yesssss!!! I got married :D That was the reason for my long absence
on Elegant Eves. As you all know that I had always wanted a traditional Bengali wedding completely where
all rituals, dresses and even jewellery will have touches of yester-years,
my wedding actually did turn our to be a fairy tale for me J

If you had read my article on “Wedding Attire”, you would know that
I had decided on a fiery red banarasi saree with gold zari, gold jewellery with yester-years Bengali designs (The “Kaan Jhumka was worn by my mother
on her wedding too!) and Aalta instead of mehendi. It was a choice
different from what is trending now-a-days and so I was super-apprehensive
about how it would turn out to be. Another point I was concerned about was the
makeup! I had appointed a makeup artist from another city (since my town didn’t
have a professional one) and she was charging way less than any other
professional artist. This although made me feel happy when I had booked her
initially, but as the day neared I was super scared.

To my UTTER surprise and amazement, she used ONLY drugstore
products on me :-o I have listed the stuff she used on me. Have a look!
1. Kryolan TV paint sticks in four
different shades as the base foundation and contouring (That was the only thing
I had asked her over phone and she confirmed that she used Kryolan)
2. A random eyeshadow palette from VOV
I guess :-o
3. Lakme eye quartet in shade Desert
Rose
4. The golden shade in Lakme quartet
served as her highlighter
5. Maybelline Colossal Mascara
6. Lakme Insta liner
7. Elle 18 kajal !!!!!!! (She used a
black eyeshadow from the palette to intensify the kajal. Inspite of much
protests from me, she said it wouldn’t budge and advised me to just relax)
8. A yellow translucent powder to set
the makeup (couldn’t notice the brand)
9. MAC Ruby Woo lipstick (She was
taking out some drugstore brands again but I promptly gave my Ruby Woo to her).
She topped it with a bit of “Cherry Red” from Avon to add a bit of sheen in the
center
10.
A dusty pink blush with slight golden shimmer (again couldn’t
recognize the brand)
11.
Two three pancakes of orangish and yellowish tints which she used
with a wet sponge on my hands and back. I was amazed at the opaque coverage it
gave without any whitish cast! I could only notice that again it was no hi-fi
brand.

I was so happy with the results that it actually showed in my
face J Once I reached the venue,
I got pleasantly surprised again. I had wanted just yellow, off white fabric
and same colored flowers as decoration. I had stressed on this combo along with
ONLY yellow lighting because I wanted my red banarasi to stand out ;) I
was glad that they could do it exactly how I wanted it to be J

Thus, a super happy bride surrounded by childhood buddies and
relatives was waiting for her man to arrive (Cheesy yeah!)

And this was our “Subho Drishti”
– The ritual where the bride and the groom sees each other for the first time
(cough! Cough!) ;) This was followed by Maala-bodol (exchange of garlands)

The main rituals started. By this time I was super dehydrated (blame my nose
ring for not allowing me to drink water even!) and was feeling uneasy L Sorry for the grumpy pictures.
