Hey all, continuing the bandwagon of skincare product reviews
on Elegant Eves, today’s review will be on my recent choice for night cream.
Now I am the kind of person who can go on for DAYS without any makeup but tell
me to survive a SINGLE day without a moisturizing cream, I will stare at you
open-mouthed like I have heard an alien language! Yes, my normal-dry skin does
not let me survive without a emolient cream at my disposal always.
Now as my “big day” is coming near (Check Bridal Banter), I realised I took ‘night time skin care” too
lightly. It was just facewash followed by a moisturizer for me. The uneven skin
tone, light sun spots (blame the irritating birthdays) were screaming and
urging me to buy a nourishing nightcream. That is when I spotted this cream on
Nykaa.com. Just Herbs is an ayurvedic
brand making quite a buzz in the beauty blogosphere recently due to its quality
natural products. Their products have no parabens, no mineral oil and they
are 99.3% natural as claimed by the company. That was enough to convince me to
give this a shot!

Honestly, as much as I would have LOVED to use it the way it
is directed (cleansing with milk first), but staying in a PG makes one lazy I
guess :-/ I wash my face with a face wash, or sometimes a scrub and then layer
this cream on. Then I massage it till its soaked into my skin.
My take: The
product reached me in a terrible state.The bubble wrap around it was covered
with much of the cream. The defective lid was the reason behind this leakage.
The “glass jar with tin lid” look of this product (its plactic actually),
although gives it a very vintage look which I like, it does not make it travel
friendly at all. You have to be very careful with the lid or expect spillage in
your bag :-/ For 395 bucks, I did expect a better packaging.

The cream itself looks like a lotion-Very runny. I thought it
would be a thick cream kind of product. Anyway, “lotion” has a milky fragrance
to it along with some other undistinguishable herbal notes. Overall, it is not
overpowering and I quite like it.

A VERY tiny amount is
required to massage entire face and if you go overboard with application, you
will end up looking like a grease-ball (Been there, done that). The cream blends
into the skin quite well and is very emolient.

But I would suggest that oily skinned beauties stay away from this
tub because it does give the face a tad “glossy” look which you might hate.
I have no problem with that as I have normal-dry skin and its just before
bedtime that I use it anyway. The next morning I wake up to smooth and nourished skin J

I have been using this
cream from the past 20 days almost and I DO see some lightening of the
brown sun spots that were appearing on my face. However, there is still a long
way to go for the pigmentation around the mouth to lighten. I have also been
treating myself to a skin brightening facial once a month and after I started
using this cream too,I realised the effects of the facial remain longer. Here
is my skin after 15 days of using this product, no edits, no makeup J

Recommendation: If you looking for some
“instant fairness cream”, skip this. If you are someone with normal to dry skin
and want some nourishing night cream which gives some brigthening with regular
usage, then Just Herbs Skin Lightening Cream is a fair bet! :)
