Hey
pretties! As you all know by now that I am not a very “foundation lover” kind
of person. The very thought of spending hours on blending and blending and MORE
blending any foundation on to my face tires me immensely. Not to forget, the
ghastly flat-matte cakey look that most foundations “gift” us! Aaaargh! I have
always kept away from foundations for these reasons even though I knew the
importance of a perfect base for any makeup look. But I have to admit that this
beauty essential forms an important part of a bridal vanity since we NEED to
look flawless in the wedding pics, don’t we? So, when the lovely Maybelline
team sent me some products for review and consideration, I landed up with the Maybelline
Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation in the shade Nude Beige 3.5. I shall
be reviewing each product I received individually and then they shall be
included in the Bridal Banter section on how they can be incorporated in our vanity for creating various looks.

Packaging: The product comes in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser
which can be locked and unlocked by rotating the pump clockwise and
anti-clockwise. Once locked, there is no spillage of product. I absolutely love
how the bottle fits into my grip and is travel-friendly
at the same time.

The shade: Before going into
details of the product, let me try to give you a sight of the shade Nude Beige 3.5.
The shade is truly neutral toned beige with ever so slight hints of peach in it. I
would have been perfectly matched with the shade Nude 4.0 which has more yellow
tones than this one. This one seems a tad lighter on me. Given below is a
comparison swatch between the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation #Nude
Beige 3.5 and MAC Studiofix Foundation in NC35. Notice that apart from the
totally different texture, the shades are almost similar. Although MAC NC 35
looks a tad yellow here, but on my skin it turns into pure beige with no warm
tones.

My take: Finally after all the
“deets”, I am jotting down how I feel about the product. TOTAL LOVE! :D The texture is fluffy and super light! I
could blend it with my fingers easily, there was no need of a brush even. The
super dry MAC Studiofix had become a nightmare for my dry skin. This on the
other hand, felt emollient while blending
and then after the blending was over, it settled
to a semi-matte finish. Perfect!
The
pigmentation was quite decent with the first layer, and because of this unique
texture, I could blend in more layers easily enough to build the coverage as
much as I wanted. It perfectly camouflaged minor blemishes and dark circles to
an extent. There was no need of concealer. Although or my dark circles, which
seem to be increasing day by day thanks to office, I would need a orange
corrector to cancel out their bluishness before application of the foundation.

My dry
skin did not need extra powder to set the foundation in, but for longer stay I
would suggest you do powder the areas which tend to get oily soon on your face.
The
foundation is fragrance-free and
thus you will be saved from any annoying strong smell while application
It photographs well too (A plus point for
wedding photos!) I have not included a before-after pic in this post because
this is not my shade and I do not want you all to get a wrong idea. I shall be
doing it with my shade “Nude 4” very soon J Till

Recommendation: A perfect
foundation for bridal vanity kit. Its unique light texture and buildable
coverage makes it perfect to be used by even makeup amateurs. The air brush
finish claim is true and the face does not look cakey after application.
Perfect for day functions as well as nights.
