Hello beauties!!
Another year
starts today! Have you all ever wondered how each year seemed to last really
long during schooldays and now it seems like Mr. Year has put on running shoes?
Well, at least I feel so!! It seems only yesterday that I passed Class 10
boards and now it’s been 7 months already that I am a post-graduate :-o Anyway,
cutting short all my “OMG! Time is
runnnnnnnning!” banter, here’s wishing you all a year which is filled with

Coming back to
regular job, today I shall be reviewing something which every woman should have
in her makeup box- Lip liners. We have all “evolved” from that terrifying
fashion phase where a dark shade lip liner was accompanied by a sheer light
shade lipstick (making the wearer look like she has ice-pink lips and a
prominent brown moustache!) Lip liners now are used to fill the entire lip and
they serve a variety of purposes:
1. They help bring out the
true pigmentation of the lipstick.
2. They help your lipstick
last way longer!
3. They avoid the unpleasant
“lipstick bleeding” around the corners of your lips caused by creamy lipsticks.
4. A flesh-toned lip liner
can even help you cheat the shape of your lips- making thinner lips fuller and
vice versa ;)

There are a lot of
options from various brands available in the market and they really tempt the
devil in you. But since I am totally against hoarding makeup, I zeroed in to
two colors which I would actually wear or need! A Red one to go along with my
red lipsticks and a n*de pink kind of shade to go with practically every other
shade I own ;) After going through the endless options, I decided to go with
Lakme 9 to 5 range lip liners in Red Alert and Beige Pink and Oh boy! Am so
glad I did :D read on to know why!

Packaging: It is a wooden pencil which needs to be sharpened at regular
intervals to achieve the pointed tip. I am personally a fan of sharpen-able lip
liners as I need totally pointy tips to define my ultra thin lips. The pencils’
body is in rose gold color and looks uber classy! The shade of the lip liner is
indicated by a color band at the bottom of the pencil along with the printed
shade name there.
My take: We all have gone through the lip lining horror days when the
so-called liner has pulled and tugged at our preciously soft lips :’( But with
these beauties, lip liners have reached a whole new definition. While I was
still half-dead with the price I paid (Although I got them only when they were
on discount), all my regrets were gone once I swatched them. The texture is
buttery smooth and glides effortlessly on the lips.

For your convenience, I
have jotted down the points likewise:
1. Shade: Red Alert is a true red shade.
It wonderfully complements both cool toned and warm toned red lipsticks. It is
a perfect match for cult red lipstick like MAC Ruby Woo. Beige Pink on the
other hand is a perfect Nude Pink shade. It has pinkish tones in beige (True to
its name).
2. Pigmentation: Completely full-blown
pigmentation with a single swipe itself. Both are intensely pigmented. They
cover any pigmentation of the lips and
are opaque.
3. Texture: Buttery smooth and glides on
effortlessly. They are creamy matte.
4. Staying power: Stays on for 5-6 hours
on me when worn under a gloss and it stays for 8-9 hours when worn under a
lipstick.
5. Complexions they would suit: While Red
Alert will suit any and every complexion, Beige Pink when worn alone would suit
only ones with very fair complexion. On everyone else (including me) it works
as a perfect “canvas” for other lipsticks or lip glosses. (I fill my entire
lips with lip liners and then proceed to apply the lipstick)
