Review of L’Oreal Color Riche Moist Mat Lipstick #Arabian Night
Hello all! This review was long pending and finally I got the
chance today to write about it. The beauty world was literally going gaga over
the new YouCannes collection of cosmetics by L’oreal Paris and I was lucky to
receive some of those beauties from their lovely team for review and
consideration. You may want to read my “First Impressions Post” on the whole
lot. Well, this lipstick was
one of those gorgeous goodies and today it’s up on the testing table.

Packaging: Nothing can scream more “C-L-A-S-S” :D I have
always been fond of rose-gold packaging and when it is studded with Swarovski
crystal, it’s just cherry on the pudding ;) This beauty is also encased in a black velvet box and an outer black carton packaging. It can be a show piece in itself
when kept on your dresses. Also, the color coded cube in the middle of the lipstick
cover tells you the exact shade of the lipstick, so no need for scrambling
around in vanity searching for the particular shade again! Full marks for
packaging ;)

My take: Honestly, as much as I swooned over the packaging and
the shade name (Arabian Nights as always been one of my favorite series of
stories since childhood!), I literally got the shock of my life when I saw the
lippy bullet color :’( It was chocolate brown! If you know me, you will know
that I hate brown lippies! However, when I swatched it, it was truly the color
depicted on the lipstick cover- a RICH plummy
berry color :) The
shade looks almost burgundy verging on maroon-ish when out in the sun, and in
shade or room, the purple tones are more prominent.

The texture is smooth and buttery ad there is no pulling or tugging at lips while application. The lipstick gives a creamy-matte finish and is not too dry like MAC Retro Mattes. If you have dry lips but love the look of matte on your pout, then Moist Mat range is for you :)
It is perfect for those glam night outs when you need a diva
look to complete your classy attire. However, I feel that this shade will also
age you and you may end up looking older than what you actually are if the bases
aren’t done properly. Also, this lipstick is so not for people with thin lips
like mine L Yes, I know there are
ladies who can rock any shade of lipstick no matter whatever the shape of their
lips are, but for lesser mortals like me, certain shades are strict no-no :-/ It
made my lips look way thinner than they actually are.

Another boo-boo was that like most Moist Mat lipsticks, this
one too broke at the base just with the second swatch :’( And the temperature
isn’t even high here in Bangalore.
So, the irony is, even though I LOVE the packaging, shade and
its name, I won’t be able to pull it off L So
ladies, here are the swatches for you. An FOTD will be up when I can create a
convincingly good look with this shade. The one I intended to put up for this
post turned out too horrible :-/ Don’t want to scare you guys!
Rate: 4/5 (The shade didn't suit me, but it will be a hit with ladies having fuller lips)
