Milani Even Touch Powder Foundation Fresco (02): Review, Swatches
Milani Even Touch Powder Foundation Fresco |
Hey girls! I was never a heavy base makeup person
and I have always steered clear of anything which masks my skin. Heavy full
coverage foundations are not my friends. My skin is normal to dry and tends to
get slightly oily and sweaty in the T zone in humid weather. So my all time favourite
is a medium coverage powder and MAC Face and Body foundation for special occasions
(only because it is almost like water). I thought I had got my perfect face
powder in Lotus Ecostay Powder in shade Royal Ivory because of its insanely
soft milled texture, yellow tones and great coverage. But unfortunately, after
finishing two pans, the powder got out of stock everywhere L
Ever since then I have been trying to find a daily wear foundation powder with
decent coverage which I can use on a daily basis as well as for special occasions.
It was then I stumbled across Milani Even Touch Powder foundation in Nykaa.
Googling for swatches of shades, I ended up ordering Fresco since it seemed to
be a medium beige with yellow tones (I wear MAC Face and Body in Shade C3)

Packaging: Encased in a round beige and golden pan,
I had really liked the packing in reviews. However, the one I received had
scratches all over the lid L The sponge applicator comes in a
separate compartment which is ventilated at the bottom. The mirror is decent.

My take: It was a blind guess when I chose Fresco,
because the only review I came across was from a non-Indian blogger and we all
know how different our skintones are from them. However, Fresco turned out to
be a perfect medium beige with yellow
undertones (Neither orangey yellow nor ashey white). Pigmentation is very
good. The swatch here is a single swipe. Have a look at the swatches:

The thing which struck me the most was the texture:
Milani Even Touch Powder Foundation has a unique silky texture which does not
fall flat. Initially I was skeptical thinking that such silky light texture
would mean a disappointing pigmentation. But I was wrong. This unique and light
texture on one hand ensured that my face didn’t look cakey and ashy white, and
on the other covered up minor redness and tiny spots. I personally do not like
products that form heavy a layer on the face, I like my skin to show through
partially. This product did actually that. It covered up minor imperfections
beautifully but my skin felt like mine instead of a mask.

Coming to oil control and staying power, my office
starts at 6AM everyday and I leave home 4 AM (yeah I know, insane!). I do not
like decking up in office so I apply my powder, kajal, lipstick at home itself.
So the non-AC drive from home to work in office cab for 45 minutes means a
sweaty ride even at that hour of the day (Humid Mumbai). So the first day I
reached with drops of perspiration thinking that the powder must have run down
in streaks (horror). But once I reached office (thankfully an AC environment)
and checked myself in washroom mirror, the powder was still there and no sign
of oiliness in T zone (even though sweat was there). The powder remained even
after I gently dabbed off the sweat with tissue.

Post this, the effect stayed the whole day and I
just saw some fading by the time it was 2 PM. Also, I directly use the sponge to lightly press in the powder for more coverage. When I use it as a finishing powder I use a kabuki brush.
Needless to say I am supremely happy with Milani Even
Touch Powder Foundation. I do hope Nykaa does not discontinue it and bring in
all the available shades.
In this picture, I had used Milani Even Touch Powder
Foundation with just some dabs of LA Pro Girl concealer in Warm Honey for my undereyes and some highlighter (Mary Lou Manizer). I quite like the semi matte effect J I am guessing
that the staying power might be lesser on people with extremely oily skin, but
that can be countered to some extent with a primer underneath. Also, people
with prominent blemishes looking for a full coverage powder should stay away as
this powder’s pigmentation is buildable only to medium.

Ladies with skin like mine (Normal to dry which
turns oily around nose in humid weather) , this powder can become your holy
grail foundation powder! :D
Have you tried Milani Even Touch Powder Foundation?
